Finans Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
At Finans, we value the trust of parents, students, and young learners worldwide. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard personal information globally, ensuring compliance with applicable privacy regulations such as COPPA (U.S.), GDPR (EU/EEA), UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, DPDP Act, and other data protection laws where Finans is accessible.
Since Finans is primarily intended for kids, students, and teens, parental consent and supervision are mandatory before any child engages with the service.
2. Lawful Basis for Processing (GDPR & Global Standards)
Under GDPR/UK GDPR, we process personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Consent: Parents must provide explicit consent for their child’s participation.
- Performance of a Contract: To provide the Finans learning platform and its services.
- Legitimate Interests: To improve educational tools, prevent misuse, and maintain security.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with child privacy regulations (e.g., COPPA in the U.S.).
For other regions, we ensure our practices align with applicable legal requirements.
3. Rights of Users & Parents (Global Frameworks)
Under GDPR/UK GDPR (EU/EEA & UK)
Parents and eligible users have the right to:
- Access their or their child’s personal data.
- Request correction or deletion of personal data.
- Restrict or object to data processing.
- Request data portability.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with their local Data Protection Authority (DPA).
Under CCPA/CPRA (California, USA)
Parents and users have the right to:
- Know what categories of personal information we collect and how it is used.
- Request deletion of collected data.
- Opt out of any “sale” of personal data (Finans does not sell personal data).
- Non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
Under DPDP Act (2023)
- Explicit verifiable parental consent is mandatory for children’s data.
- Parents can request correction, deletion, or withdraw consent at any time.
- Data fiduciaries (Finans) must ensure processing aligns with lawful purposes.
Other Regions (Canada PIPEDA, Australia Privacy Act, etc.)
Finans provides similar rights of access, correction, deletion, and consent withdrawal to all users worldwide.
4. International Data Transfers
Because Finans operates globally, personal data may be transferred to and stored in countries outside the user’s home jurisdiction, including the United States, European Union, and India.
- Such transfers are done under adequate safeguards (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), UK Addendum, or other lawful mechanisms).
- We ensure service providers adhere to equivalent levels of protection wherever data is processed.
5. Data Retention & Deletion (Global Policy)
- Data is retained only as long as needed to fulfill educational purposes or comply with legal obligations.
- Parents can request erasure (“Right to be Forgotten” under GDPR) at any time.
- Where local law mandates shorter retention (e.g., COPPA in U.S. children’s services), we comply accordingly.
6. Special Protections for Children
- Finans does not display ads, behavioral targeting, or social media tracking to children.
- All child accounts are created and monitored under a parent’s master account.
- Data collected from children is minimized and used solely for educational purposes.
7. Global Security Commitments
We apply industry-standard technical, organizational, and administrative safeguards (encryption, access controls, regular audits). However, no system is 100% secure. Parents are encouraged to monitor and guide their child’s online activity.
8. Updates to Policy
We may update this policy in line with changes in global data protection laws. Parents will be notified of significant changes via email and/or in-app alerts.
